As of the end of July 2025, the total number of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure units (charging ports) in China reached 16.696 million, a year-on-year increase of 53%. Among them, public charging infrastructure units (charging ports) stood at 4.202 million, up 38% year-on-year; private charging infrastructure units reached 12.494 million, a year-on-year growth of 58.8%.
The top 10 regions in terms of public charging infrastructure construction—Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Shandong, Henan, Anhui, Hubei, Sichuan, and Beijing—accounted for 66.7% of the national total. National charging electricity consumption was mainly concentrated in provinces and municipalities including Guangdong, Jiangsu, Hebei, Sichuan, Zhejiang, Shanghai, Shandong, Fujian, Henan, and Shaanxi. In terms of electricity flow, public transport buses and passenger cars were the main users, while other vehicle types such as sanitation/logistics vehicles and taxis accounted for a relatively small proportion.
In July 2025, the national total charging electricity volume was approximately 7.71 billion kWh, an increase of 1 billion kWh from the previous month, with a year-on-year growth of 53.9% and a month-on-month growth of 14.9%.
As of July 2025, the top 15 charging operation enterprises in China by the number of operated charging piles were as follows:
Teld (807,000 units)
Star Charge (703,000 units)
Yunchongkuai (656,000 units)
Xiaoju Charging (268,000 units)
Weijingyun (238,000 units)
State Grid (196,000 units)
Lvchongchong (142,000 units)
Shenzhen Chedian Network (109,000 units)
Huichongdian (95,000 units)
China Southern Power Grid (90,000 units)
EV Power (79,000 units)
Kunlun Grid Power (64,000 units)
Wancheng Wanchong (55,000 units)
Weilan Fast Charging (53,000 units)
Haihuide (49,000 units)
These 15 operators accounted for 84.1% of the total number of charging piles nationwide, while the remaining operators accounted for 15.9%.
From January to July 2025, the increment of charging infrastructure was 3.878 million units, a year-on-year increase of 93.2%. Among them, the increment of public charging infrastructure was 623,000 units, up 28.9% year-on-year; the increment of private charging infrastructure reached 3.255 million units, a year-on-year rise of 113.6%.
As of the end of July 2025, the total number of China’s EV charging infrastructure units (charging ports) reached 16.696 million, a year-on-year growth of 53.0%.
From January to July 2025, the increment of charging infrastructure was 3.878 million units, and the domestic sales volume of new energy vehicles (NEVs) was 6.913 million units. Both charging infrastructure and NEVs maintained rapid growth. The ratio of charging infrastructure increment to NEV increment was 1:1.8, indicating that the construction of charging infrastructure can basically meet the rapid development of NEVs.
